Staying Healthy and Making a splash in Manila!

Don’t look now! Keeping staff and children healthy is an important part of life at Mango House which, in a central point, is a great focus to enable everyone to easily get flu jabs at the same time. The local health team were able to come and visit and everyone lined up to get the vaccination done with no fuss…..well…..maybe just cover your eyes or look away if you’re nervous! Now everyone is protected and will stay healthy as they get back down to that all important schoolwork.

The children in Manila are fortunate to have long-term supporters at the German European School, which once again teamed up with the Lycée Français de Manille for a 24-hour swimathon in aid of Children of the Dump.

Staff, parents, and pupils all took to the pool, swimming an incredible 8,555 laps, smashing this year’s ambitious 8,000-lap target! Sponsors pledged donations per lap, making every stroke count.

Beyond the swimming, the event was packed with poolside fun, including games, a barbecue, and even a school disco! It was also a wonderful opportunity for Mango Tree House staff to visit and personally thank everyone for their incredible efforts. A special shout-out goes to Viola Buck, a trustee of ASCF in Manila, whose initiative and dedication helped make this event possible.

The total amount raised in pesos is still being counted, but if you’d like to contribute from afar, we’ve set up a UK PayPal link https://bit.ly/UKSwim25 to help boost the total. Even a small donation—just 0.1p per lap swum (£8.55 total)—can make a difference! Can you help?
