Trustees Role
A Message from our Board:
Thank you for your interest in joining our board. Children of the Dump is a small UK charity with a big mission: helping vulnerable children and families in Manila access education, care, stability, and hope.
We are now at a pivotal moment in our story. As we embark on a rebranding to strengthen how we communicate our mission, deepen supporter engagement, and honor the voices of the children, families, staff, and partners we work alongside in Manila, we are also strengthening our trustee board for the future.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a committed charity at a moment of renewal. We are looking for trustees who bring sound judgement, energy, practical experience, and a willingness to help a small charity make an even greater difference. We have some roles that require deeper experience, but please do get in touch even if you don’t meet all the requirements as we have generic trustee roles open too.
If you want to use your experience to help a small charity, make a lasting difference, we would love to hear from you. We are particularly interested in people who bring practical skills, sound judgement, and commitment to children’s education, care, dignity, and opportunity. I have been involved with Children of the Dump, formerly ASCT, for over 16 years, after first being inspired by my sister, Alison. I began as a sponsor and later visited Mango House in Manila, which was a life-changing experience and led me to become a trustee. The love and gratitude from the children is truly humbling, and it is a privilege to be part of a charity that feels like one big family.
Treasurer / Finance Trustee
To lead the board’s oversight of the charity’s finances, ensuring trustees have clear financial information and sound advice on accounts, budgets, reserves, controls, and long-term financial sustainability.
Governance Trustee
To lead the board’s oversight of good governance, compliance, risk, records, policies, board papers, minutes, action tracking, and Charity Commission requirements, helping ensure the charity is well organised and properly managed.

Fundraising Trustee
To lead the board’s oversight of fundraising, donor stewardship, sponsorship, grants, partnerships, and community support, helping ensure income is sustainable, ethical, and closely aligned with the charity’s mission.

Community Fundraising Volunteer
A regular volunteer who helps organise small fundraising activities in their local area.
Good for: friendly, organised people who enjoy bringing others together.
You could: organise coffee mornings, quizzes, sponsored walks or bake sales, encourage local groups to support the charity, promote appeals, and share stories or photos from events.

Church and Faith Community Ambassador
A volunteer who helps introduce the charity to churches and faith communities.
Good for: people with church links or confidence speaking to small groups.
