Children near Payatas, Manila who need sponsors today

A number of Filipino children start their education without a sponsor in place so that they can benefit from a full school year.

Here are 2 young children looking for their place to be sponsored today. Sponsors for these children are welcome from anywhere in the world.

Princess Anver

Birthday: November 18th, 2017

Grapevine Student

Opportunity;

Princess Anver is a conscientious six-year-old girl living in Payatas with her parents, Oliver and Angelica, and her two younger siblings, Katelyn Ann (5) and Oliver Jr. (2). For over six years, the family has lived in a makeshift shack constructed from tarp and salvaged wood. They share a single small room where they live, eat, and sleep. They rely on a neighbour for water and electricity and occupy the land with the property owner's permission, making them the de facto owners of their modest home.

Anver's father, Oliver, works as a garbage collector, earning 5,000 pesos (£76) a month. Despite the meagre income, her mother, Angelica, carefully manages the family's budget, covering basic necessities. Both parents, having not completed their education, are limited in job prospects but are deeply committed to supporting their family through scavenging.

Anver, despite her young age, shows a strong sense of responsibility, often helping care for her younger siblings. She enjoys playing with them at home and occasionally outside, but her talents in singing and dancing, which she has developed by following TikTok trends, make her stand out. Her parents’ dedication to their children’s education has inspired Anver to dream of becoming a teacher. Her nurturing nature and early focus on education suggest a bright future for her.

Support needed;

Anver has already shown promising academic progress. After completing her early education at Cashew Learning Center with a solid grade of 86%, she is now enrolled as a Grade 1 student at Payatas C Elementary School. While she did not receive any honours, her enthusiasm for learning, punctual attendance, and positive attitude have made her a dedicated student. She remains determined to keep improving academically and to pursue her goal of becoming a teacher.

Despite financial struggles, the family remains optimistic about their future, and Anver’s strong work ethic and clear aspirations serve as a beacon of hope for a better life.

Your support of £30 per month can deliver that.

Aiken

Birthday: October 28th, 2014

Grapevine Student

Opportunity:

Aiken will be 10 years old this year. He is part of an Evangelical Christian family and has 2 younger brothers.

He does really well in his studies at school. At home he reads from The Bible every day and is very disciplined with his school homework. At home he helps look after his brothers and with chores in their simple house. At Church he is a very keen singer and continues to learn to play the piano which he sometimes does in services.

Support needed:

Aiken's grandmother set up a Church in her home and continues to be a pastor in Payatas. Both Aiken's parents, who met at Church, have dedicated their lives to the ministry and as a result take out a minimal income to support their own family. This means that it isn't easy to afford the necessities of their own everyday life including keeping the children in public school as well as in the churches Young Christian Ministry

A monthly sponsorship of £30 is enough to keep Aiken on his path through school and to, one day, become the 3rd generation of his family to work in Christian Ministry.
