UK Fundraising Volunteer Champions
Children of the Dump Manila
- Do you want to ensure that young children living in poverty around rubbish dumps in Manila get the education that they deserve?
- Can you help create change by inspiring others?
- Help increase our family of supporters and so champion fundraising in the UK by sharing the Children of the Dump story.
- Make a big impact in a small charity by delivering your own new ideas
What will I do?
We would love to hear your own ideas. We are also really keen for Fundraising Volunteers around the UK with different interests;
Filipino community links in the UK; eg local social or work groups. Maybe present the charity face to face, attend events such as Barrio festivals or encourage fundraising at existing or new events?
Charity sports; Can you find and motivate participants to fundraise on walks, marathons, challenges etc?
Small business owners; Can you unlock the potential of charity giving through businesses, maybe with a link to the Philippines?
Student Volunteers; Maybe you are a student who can improve your CV by volunteering. You could help boost our social media or contact student clubs or Associations to share the story of the charity and even organise a fundraising event.
What skills do I bring?
- Enthusiasm for the charity goals, having an outgoing personality and enjoying mixing with people is more important than previous experience.
- Confidence in remote working.
- Give as much, or as little, of your time as you like, when it suits you. 4 hours per month average might be a base level of commitment.
How will I be supported?
- After an induction about Children of the Dump you will be ready to plan your own approach and begin to share our story with others.
- Ongoing, an individual Trustee will be a regular contact along with support from our Administration Manager.
- The charity sources photos, videos and leaflets of the work and help for face to face meetings, presentations.
What difference will I make?
- By sharing the story of the children, resulting in more fundraising, you directly impact the number of children with access to education.
- Make your mark and join other friendly supporters in our regular online meetings and at our twice yearly Board meetings near Camberley in Surrey.

Michael
Michael who is a volunteer for Children of the Dump says ‘I wanted to help improve the life chances for the children living in squalor round the rubbish dumps. Volunteering for a small charity is great because its fun as you get involved with different things and you can do them quickly. It’s fun as you meet a variety of people too. When our ideas work its so rewarding; just a simple coffee morning can raise enough to keep a child at school for a whole year!’
