Aladdin comes to Manila
Every December local supporters in Manila organise a gala Christmas pantomime with as many children from Children of the Dump taking part as possible. This year it was Aladdin.
The fundraising that is generated by ticket sales is of course valuable, but by far the most significant part of the programme is the hard work and resulting personal development of the children taking part.
It takes months for the children to practice and learn their lines. There are loads of opportunities to acquire new skills of acting, dancing and singing. As a result of this, each child gains a huge amount of confidence. The experience is something that will benefit them for a lifetime.
Aladdin was a huge success with the audience. The children were true stars and applauded to the rafters. All that hard work truly paid off and provided unique memories. Parents and teachers are bursting with pride in these new stars.
A lot of work goes on behind the scenes to make the panto a success.
The show is staged by local charity partners in Manila, ASCF, and especially Ham, as producer and director. Thanks also to the British School in Manila for the use of their wonderful state of the art theatre and for support from the British Women’s Association. There are lots of other volunteers behind the show making so many vibrant costumes and colourful stage sets. And, of course, the regular staff and teachers who put in hours of extra time looking after the children with coaching, extra meals and transportation that is needed whilst balancing their normal everyday tasks of pastoral care and teaching.
The children, the staff, and the Trustees here in the UK wish to express thanks for all the support that you offer the children.
One small ask this month and its free to you but makes a massive difference to the Charity.
