A Life Transformed by Children of the Dump

Catherine came to live at Mango House aged 10 along with her 2 sisters after some truly terrible events at home. She stayed for many years although it was hard being away from her mother who suffered from ill health but, inspired by her sponsor back in the UK, she studied hard and got great school grades. It was difficult because it wasn’t possible to see her mum as often as she would have liked but she was a popular and fun loving part of the Mango family. She described the support of Children of the Dump and her British sponsor as ‘the wind beneath my wings’

On graduating she wanted to become a teacher as she realised how education can change lives. She returned to Cashew School and became the respected and driven Head of the School. saying “it is a humbling experience to be able to help little children just to have a dream”.

A couple of years ago she took the decision to take a teaching role away from Cashew elsewhere in Manila.

With her sisters now also successful the family is united again and able to afford the medication thar her mum requires.

Now, just this month, she has the opportunity to move overseas and become a teacher overseas in the Mariana Islands (Guam is the best known island) way out in the Pacific.

What a wonderful achievement for Catherine who is living her dream. She will always remember the vital support from her British sponsor who has helped her reach this. What a shining endorsement of the importance of a sponsor, someone like you, who has been able to transform a life.

You can still see an interview she made a couple of years ago on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZE9ho7wQ01s

But for now, Good Luck Catherine on your next chapter.
